·         We are the largest democratic country of the world and the voter card is our identity of our citizenship. The voter card does not serve the only purpose of casting the vote, but also it gives us an identity of citizenship of our country.
·         Hence every individual of the country having age of 18 or above are eligible to hold a voter card.
·         Yes, all we are aware that the voter card can be applied online and offline as well. Once you have submitted the application for the voter card, it required few days to get the card.
·         However after submission of the application you can know the status of your voter card. Here we will guide you to know the status of the voter card.
Procedure to know the status of voter card:
·         Mainly there exists 2 ways to know the status of the voter card and here we will elaborate you about both the steps.
Method1:
You can get the status of the voter card by giving the detail of EPIC number or your personal detail.
·         If you want to search the status of your voter card by giving your personal detail, all you need to do is to log in to the site http://electoralsearch.in/
·         Once you log in to the website, you will be landing to a page like this




·         The screen itself is self explanatory. Where first you need to enter your name, date f birth and age, gender and father’s or husband name (What you have mentioned at the application).
·         The next step is to enter the state and the district form which you are belonging.
·         Once the entry part is over, in the right side of the page you need to enter the security code.
·         Finally click on the search option and you will get the status of your voter card.

·         If you have damaged your card and you have requested to replace your card with a new one, you can also search the status of your card.
·         Just login to http://electoralsearch.in/ and this will land to a page like


·         Simple enter your EPIC number, state and the code. And you will get the status of your voter card.
Method2:
·         There also exists another way to know the status of your voter card.
·         Where you have to log in to the website http://eci.nic.in/eci/eci.html. This is the website where you have logged in to register your application for your voter cad.
·         Giving your personal credential login and it will give you a screen like e below:
  


·         Enter the detail as per requisite and finally submit your detail.  After submitting the data you will get the status of your voter card.

The procedure to get your duplicate voter card


·         The voter card does not allow a citizen of a country to cast his/her vote. It also serves as a purpose of identity.
·         In addition to the proof of identity the voter card also helps in various purposes. Hence it is utmost important for any citizens to keep the voter card safely.  

·         However in certain instance many of us lost the voter card or it may get damaged.
·         But nothing to worry and panic, here we will guide you to get you to get your duplicate voter card (In case of loss or damage) .

Procedure available to get a duplicate voter card:
·         Whenever you lost or damage a voter card, nothing to panic. There is a way to get a duplicate voter card.

·         The election commission of India has made it simple, so that the lost or damaged voter card can be obtained without much worry.  

·         You can get your duplicate voter card by offline mode as well as online mode.
·         When it comes to offline mode of application, the first and fore things you need to do is to download the form 002.
·         The form 002 can be downloaded from the election commission web site i.e http://eci-citizenservices.nic.in/.
·         Just down load the form and fill the form in all respect. Once you have filled the form, submit the filled form along with the desired documents to the election commission of India. You will get your duplicate voter card in the specified time.
·         Don’t forget to make a payment of 25/- in form of DD, favoring the Election commission of India.
·         When it comes to online mode, you have to visit the website http://eci-citizenservices.nic.in/ and fill the form 002.
·         Once form 002 is filled in all respect, submit the form along with a copy of the FIR which you have lodged in the police station when you have lost your voter card and a proof of ID.

·         Once document submission process is over, you have to make payment of 25 rupees for the duplicate voter card.  

Things need to be done when you lost your voter card:
When you have noticed that you have lost your voter card, the first and foremost things you need to do is to lodge a FIR at your nearest police station. Once you lodge a complaint keep a copy with you and it will be very handy while applying for a duplicate card.

Perquisite documents for duplicate voter card:
·         These are the list of documents which you need to submit while applying for a duplicate voter card.
·         Copy of FIR
·         Proof of Identity such as Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Driving Licence and Passport

·         EPIC NO., Part No., and Serial No (If you have)

A brief about the Election commission of India

A brief:
·         The election commission of India is an independent body formed by the Government of India specially to conduct and monitor all sort of election in the country. The first and the foremost aim of the election commission is to conduct fair and free election in the country.

·         The Constitution on 25th January 1950 have given a green signal to constitute the election commission and it is the year 2001, since than the election commission was formed and it has been conducting election.     

Hierarchy of the commission:
·         As it has already been mention that the commission is an independent body and it is headed by a Chief Election Commissioner and in addition to that the commission has also two additional election commissioners who will work under the Chief Election Commissioner.

·         However at a later date the structure has been changed and multi-member Commission concept has been introduced in the commission. The basic aim behind the multi-member Commission concept is to take fast decision.

Working period:
·         Basically the election commission is headed by the Chief Election Commissioner and the President of India give appointment to Chief Election Commissioner.

·         Once a Chief Election Commissioner is appointed, he can hold the office for 6 years or attaining the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.

·         The rank, perk, salary and allowance of the Chief Election Commissioner is equivalent to the judge of a supreme court.

Basic functions:
·         The main function of the Election Commissioner is to conduct fare and free election, however in addition to that the Commission also conducts the following duties.

·         Whenever a new political party is being formed, it has to be registered with the Election Commission of India. The commission does the function of registration of new parties.

·         At the time of registration of new party the commission make sure that the part has enough set up and they have inner party democracy as well.

·         The commission also holds periodical meeting with the political parties.
·         Voters education is also another important task being done by the commission. Regularly the commission used to conduct seminar, road show and various other educative methods to educate the voter.

·         Issuance of new voter card is also being done by the commission.  In fact if any election is going to be conducted in the near future the commission set up camps to issue new voter card to the eligibility citizens of the country.

State election commission:
·         Article 243K of the Constitution of India clearly speaks about the state election commission.
·         The Article 243K is nothing but to form a state election commission, who will completely look after the election and all election related issue in a particular state.

·         The Constitutional (73rd Amendment) Act has given more teeth to the state election commission, where it empower the state election commission to establish "democracy at the grass roots level.  
·         In addition to the above SEC is also empowered to conduct local body election in the states.
